STIRR Sydney
Big News. Tangler has gotten together with the STIRR network to host a mixer event in Sydney — the first outside the valley.
The event will be held on Wednesday 6th of December starting at 7pm. It’ll be standup, with finger food supplied, and a whole bunch of interesting and entertaining ’startup games’ for the night, including an episode of half-baked.com.
We’re also inviting 3 to 5 startups to show off their stuff. If you have a startup, or know of one who would like to get involved, please let me know.
What you need to do:
- Go to the wiki page and register yourself on the RSVP list (it’s first come first served so hurry up)
- Pass this on to people you think would be good to have at the event (internet startups or associated industry).
- Think of an aussie internet startup that would like to demo and have them contact me.
- Send me a web 2.0 joke. (Or simply provide an answer to “How many web 2.0 startups does it take to change a light bulb?”)
Also, a big thanks to the event sponsors:

I’ve been talking to Vishal and Ben (very briefly) about hosting a dinner 2.0 in Melbourne. Details soon I hope.
Not quite the same thing as a STIRR mixer though.

It was a great night Marty, thanks to you and Mick for pulling it together. Here’s a review of the event.
Hey, did anybody get given a Bluepulse teeshirt in the end? Those things are GOLD man, GOLD!

This looks great. Let me know what help you need in Brisbane. It’s a great opportunity
to run, promote and fund a series of regular events that will truly provide the aggregation needed to create conditions that will artificially simulate the “density” that exists in more populous countries like the USA and Europe. It is this density that creates connections and spontaneous networks which breed, identify and fund deals without excessive government assistance. We need a Banner that will bring the entrepreneurial primodial soup together in sufficient quantity, apply heat, and the spark necessary to create and then evolve more Australian businesses capable of competing globally. STIRR can be that banner, get the right people involved, and use it’s existing resources more efficiently in a way that benefits everyone. It can do it in a non-partisan way, without dominance by a clique of professional service providers, so that access to the events and the resulting benefits are not limited to those on the right mailing lists.
